Everything You Need To Know About Restylane Fillers

Aging brings wisdom, maturity, clarity, and, unfortunately, wrinkles. Some people decide to do nothing while others go to the opposite extreme. There is a middle ground, however. You can age gracefully with minimally invasive procedures. Dermal fillers, like Restylane filler treatment, can smooth, enhance, and plump your face without the risk of invasive surgery. They let you discreetly fight Mother Nature in your own little way.

What is a Restylane filler?

Restylane is the brand name of a dermal filler used to augment, moderate, or otherwise smooth wrinkles caused by the effects of aging. Restylane products use hyaluronic acid for the procedure. There are several variations of Restylane, each designed to be used in a different part of the body, including Restylane Defyne, Restylane Silk, Restylane Refyne, and Restylane Lyft.

What is injectable hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body. It is injected into fine lines as well as more defined wrinkles to plump them up safely. It is effective on lips that have thinned over time as well as thin lines around the mouth. Dermal fillers, like Restylane, are also effective at reducing deeper wrinkles, like marionette lines, vertical wrinkles found on either side of the mouth, and nasolabial folds, wrinkles that are located near the nose and extend outwards diagonally below the cheekbones.

Is hyaluronic acid safe?

The Federal Drug Administration, or FDA, has approved the use of hyaluronic acid as a dermal filler for cosmetic procedures. In fact, their website states that products using hyaluronic acid are simply "absorbed by the body over time" and the result is only temporary.

How long do Restylane fillers last?

Nothing lasts forever. Whether you have invasive, cosmetic surgery or a simple procedure like Restylane fillers, you cannot stop the natural aging process. That said, the American Society of Dermatological Surgery states that hyaluronic acid treatments typically last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on your age and the location of the injection.

Where can you use Restylane filler treatments?

In addition to plumping lips, Restylane is typically used on fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and forehead. Unique to Restylane, their product can also add volume back to hands. Hyaluronic acid can be injected into the dorsal side, or back, of the hand to restore a youthful appearance.

Does Restylane work immediately?

Like most injectables, Restylane filler treatment works immediately but the best results are seen over the next few days, as any initial swelling diminishes.

Are there side effects to dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are deemed to be safe by the FDA. The hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin with needles which could lead to temporary bleeding, bruising, or irritation at the injection site. Patients have also occasionally had an allergic reaction to the dermal filler injection.

How many treatments do you need?

Most patients only need one initial treatment with touch-ups as needed as the product is reabsorbed into the body. For larger areas or deep wrinkles, more than one visit may be necessary.

Can anyone get Restylane?

While Restylane is safe, it is not recommended for some people. If you are immunocompromised, have uncontrolled diabetes, are pregnant, or have inflamed skin at the time of the procedure, dermal fillers are not recommended. Also, the FDA does not permit the use of dermal fillers for patients under the age of 22.

Restylane filler treatment is a safe way to fight aging and diminish the fine lines and deeper wrinkles on your face. With little risk and virtually no downtime, a dermal filler procedure may be the answer you were looking for.
